Red Ed’s policy on the hoof – another corker no Stamp Duty up to £300,000 value – ‘it’s the way they tell ‘em!’

What have the Labour Party cooked up on the menu of today as the special? No Stamp Duty for purchasers up to £300,000 and a restriction on foreign buyers for new developments.

Didn’t the Tory’s already organise this give away for Stamp Duty in the lower price ranges in the Autumn Statement …and did we not hear from the boffins that such a restriction is unworkable or am I asleep at the wheel? Continue reading

Thoughts on the Sunday Times Rich List 2015

The much read Sunday Times Rich List has come at an inauspicious time particularly given that there is a fully fledged class war being raged by the socialistically inspired Labour/SNP Party in the run up to next week’s Election.

Yes, a number of the mega rich individuals have appeared to become wealthier although there are exceptions to this as the Rich List clearly demonstrates.  What it does tell us is that anyone who has assets (property, shares/bonds etc.) has done well over the years and those who are reliant on salaries have fallen behind. Rent Controls: what will ‘Red Ed’ conjure up next – how about compulsory purchase of privately owned property?

Yes, we have all heard it now, ‘Red Ed’ is going to impose rent controls on private rented property if he and his ‘merry men’ gain power on the May 7th.

I don’t disagree with the suggestion that Tenancy Agreements should be up to three years long and not, as is more usual, one year.  In any event most Tenancy Agreements prescribe for an RPI increase (and no more) so what is all the concern about? Continue reading
